It’s no secret we embrace the natural surroundings which make up Independence Grove. Whether it’s a gorgeous blanket of winter snow or the smiling sun of summer, we love the ever-changing seasons.
Here is a list—in no particular order—of the top five seasons at Independence Grove:
Winter
This is a sleeper entry into the list! When people think of an outdoor venue, they tend to believe winter is the least accommodating season. However, when it comes to quiet beauty, the snow-covered grounds of Independence Grove are a sight to behold.
And the best part? You and your guests can behold them from the inviting surroundings of Audubon Hall. Our wall of windows overlooking the grounds is a perfect backdrop for a winter wedding or a corporate meeting. And what better time than winter to take advantage of our oversized fireplace?
Spring
Flowers blooming. Birds chirping. The feeling of renewal all around. It must be spring at Independence Grove!
Schedule your event during the spring and you will be treated to the awakening of nature. We will work with you to craft a menu for your event which will highlight the freshness of the season while you and your guests enjoy the warming days.
Autumn
An explosion of color greets you as nature creates a glorious backdrop for you and your guests. Autumn weddings are a particular favorite amongst all of us here at Independence Grove.
The cozy aromas, the satisfying foods, and the crisp air all conspire with the acres of turning trees to provide you with an unmatched experience. We are one of the most beautiful and unique venues in the Chicagoland area…and it’s particularly evident during autumn!
Summer
Summer is the classic season when it comes to outdoor venues—and at Independence Grove, we take full advantage of the season.
In addition to Audubon Hall’s sweeping vistas of South Bay, we offer several other event spaces to make your social or corporate event truly memorable. You can choose from—or combine—our unique indoor and outdoor spaces to create your ideal event experience.
North Bay Pavilion, offering stunning lake views and flexible tenting options which make it a perfect outdoor setting for any type of waterfront event you desire.
Winding red brick pathways lead the way to the Native Garden where the waterfall, wildflowers, and abundant greenery create a serene and private setting for your outdoor wedding ceremony or service.
The Grassy Knoll is a large, open lawn overlooking the lake, playground, and Audubon Hall. It’s the perfect setting for all different types of celebrations and company picnics.
Looking for a smaller summertime event space? Consider the Observation Deck! This wooden deck that overlooks the lake and the entire nature preserve, providing clear views of the marina and sunset.
Finally, Millennium Plaza is a beautiful, open air space with brick pavers, stunning landscaping, and views of the marina and lake.
Wedding Season
The fifth season—and perhaps our favorite—is Wedding Season! Why is it our favorite? Because the entire Independence Grove family loves a wedding…AND because wedding season encompasses our other favorites: winter, spring, summer, and fall!
